Did you like the idea of OpenID ? well i thought it was great but had some concerns about it as to how this will go over the web and how many will implement the idea. DataPortability architecture is something more than OpenID. its huge!
Imagine your personal data that are scattered everywhere on the web for different services and to be able from all those services to access your data without jumping from one site to the other. The idea is simple :
To put all existing technologies and initiatives in context to create a reference design for end-to-end Data Portability. To promote that design to the developer, vendor and end-user community.
will this work ? i hope so, cause this will be a major milestone for web 5.0 and will initiate a new era for information sharing. Of course there is the question of who will own this data? the answer is again simple: you the user. the data will not be stored in one place but simply on several places and they can be shared from one service to another.. Facebook and Google and Plaxo have already joined the project and Scoble as well
i’ll be watching this space…
