People weren’t sure if it would make it in (as it duplicates functionality from Apple) but it did. This is good news. From playing with it myself, I feel a little like @gruber but what is more interesting to me is that there is room for innovation on the iPhone platform for browsers.

Firefox Mobile was exciting to me from a “what can a mobile browser do” perspective more than a “I get to use it” due to N900 and WinMo being the first platforms. I was excited to see that Dave Townsend grabbed the webOS PDK and started to play with a port:

The desktop has seen a rich space for innovation of browsing. By contrast we have seen awful browsers on mobile, and only recently have we seen quality on that side of the house. There has been innovation in the touch experience etc, but it feels like there is so much that we could do.

The richer UI of Firefox Mobile, plus Weave support, plus add-on support in general is fantastic.

Opera being smart about downscaling assets is fantastic.

But, there is more to be done, and hopefully we see Firefox on iPhone too!

Oh, and letting me set my own darn cache size would be nice too

The company was founded by a group of engineers from P.A. Semi, which was acquired by Apple in April 2008 for $278 million — their technology is what powers the Apple iPad’s A4 microprocessor.

After the acquisition, several employees left Apple to found Agnilux, including Amarjit Gill, the former EVP of Sales and Business Development for P.A. Semi. Very little is known about the startup, with a recent report from NYT’s Bits Blog uncovering only that it’s working on some type of server and that it has a partnership with Cisco.

A Google spokesperson told us the following: “We’re pleased to welcome the Agnilux team to Google, but we don’t have any additional information to share right now.”

Google could be using Agnilux to upgrade or enhance its server technology. The search giant owns hundreds of thousands, if not millions of servers to power the world’s search queries. Any improvement in efficiency would be a boon to Google’s bottom line.

The acquisition was first reported by peHUB. Agnilux’s website has been taken down since the report.

The jQuery Visualize work is the latest library that groks HTML and replaces the table with pretty graphs:

The Visualize plugin parses key content elements in a well-structured HTML table, and leverages that native HTML5 canvas drawing ability to transform them into a chart or graph visualization. For example, table row data values serve as chart bars, lines or pie wedges; table headers become value and legend labels; and the title and caption values provide title labels within the image. Visualize also automatically checks for the highest and lowest values in the chart and uses them to calculate x-axis values for line and bar charts. Finally, the plugin includes two different CSS styles — one light and one dark — that can be used as is, or can serve as a starting point to customize chart and graph presentation to match any application style.

Someone pointed out that “accessible” means many things. If you have a 10,000 row table, it may not be easy to consume…. but hey!
